[ sparring with diluc is nothing new. they do it all the time.
they do it all the time, and kaeya's heart always races, and each spar is a bit more difficult than the last, for how distracted kaeya becomes. they've known one another for a long, long time, loved one another for a long, long time, but growing older together, blossoming into adulthood.. things had changed. at least, they had certainly changed for kaeya. what he feels for diluc is no longer sweet, wholesome innocent love, but something else entirely. something warmer and more enticing. something that has him wholly distracted by the roll of diluc's shoulders as he hefts his claymore, and the shine of sweat clinging to his skin. he looks beautiful with his hair wild and his skin flushed from their bout -
before he knows it, the sword is knocked swiftly from his hand, and kaeya is laid out in the grass with diluc's weight over him, pinning him down, and - gods, the thoughts that run through his mind are anything but pure.
he can remember exactly when it dawned on him, that his feelings for diluc were not entirely familial, but something more, something different. he can remember the day when he looked at diluc and realized that the longing he felt deep in his chest was the desire to kiss him.
he feels the same way now. kaeya's chest heaves as he fights to catch his breath, his eyes wide and shining as he smiles. he might've suffered yet another defeat at diluc's hands, but he still feels exhilarated, his heart pounding against his ribs as he looks up into diluc's face. ]
You win, you win. Again.
[ he teases, breathless and rough, one hand fisting in the front of diluc's shirt. ]
Well done.

When Diluc finally tired of playing around and waiting for Kaeya to get his act together, he went in for the kill— figuratively, of course. It didn’t take him more than another heavy swing of his claymore and a quick charge with his right arm bent at the elbow, forearm slamming into Kaeya’s chest, effectively neutralizing Kaeya and sending them both to the ground. This, too, was unexpected, as he hadn’t meant to do more than knock Kaeya back a bit, but the other young man was so unfocused, he couldn’t even keep his footing. Diluc immediately let go of his claymore as he got no resistance from Kaeya and felt himself falling forward on top of him.
Now, he’s braced over the younger boy, both of them panting for breath from the warm spring day and their exertion, Diluc confused as to what just happened. Kaeya doesn’t seem to be at all put out by losing or at all shocked to be on the ground with him on top of him despite that they weren’t intending to practice hand-to-hand today. Diluc just keeps staring down at Kaeya with a little frown on his cherry pink lips, searching those starry blue eyes for answers.
Maybe he looked a little too closely though.
Kaeya grabs his shirt and suddenly their faces are much closer. Diluc can feel Kaeya’s breath against his skin. The other boy’s cheeks are flushed too, but his bronzed skin gives him an elegant sort of glow that, frankly, Diluc just never feels he gets. His Vision causes him to run a little hotter than most and his cheeks just get ugly splotchy red, his untamed scarlet waves sticking to his neck and forehead with sweat. He doesn’t ever feel like a pretty sight.
Not the way Kaeya so effortlessly looks, even right now.
Diluc doesn’t even realize his eyes have wandered from Kaeya’s eyes to take in the other features of his face, landing on his lips. They look soft. The bow of his upper lip graceful, his bottom lip plush— not thin like his. Diluc feels a familiar flutter in the pit of his belly and he swallows thickly, at a loss for words. He noticed a few years ago this feeling would happen every time he looked too long at Kaeya, but he’s always managed to control it. Push it down, bury it, ignore it, really, because the daydreams that came to his mind unbidden if he didn’t were far from appropriate. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d fallen asleep without reminiscing a little about how Kaeya would sneak into his room at night during thunderstorms, curl his then smaller body around him and hide his face in his chest. That closeness was… something Diluc missed. Only now, the reminiscing was peppered with fantasies of Kaeya coming to his bed for entirely different reasons. None of them would be easily explained to Crepus either.
Now, Diluc feels weak. There’s a wild impulse suddenly that takes hold of him and his frame stiffens as he holds it back, chewing on his bottom lip as he continues to be mesmerized by Kaeya’s smiling pretty lips. He tries to clear his throat, but his voice still dies on his vocal cords before they ever reach his tongue. Kaeya has him in his spell, dazzled by that little spark of charm he doesn’t seem to really understand he even possesses. And Diluc has always, always been so defenseless to it. ]

surely, this is not the first time he's felt this way, and as of late he has been feeling it more and more. they've always touched one another easily, play-wrestling as children, leaning on one another, playfully teasing, but these days those touches feel different, like secret little promises, and a yearning for more. kaeya's throat runs dry.
diluc is so close, it would be such a simple thing to close the gap, but kaeya is hesitating, as he always hesitates. this is his home, after all, diluc and crepus are his family, he can't bear the idea of losing them because he made a foolish mistake and tried to grab for more than he is worth. the fear of rejection, of loss and grief, is deeply inset into him, for all of the deep and dreadful secrets that he carries. foolishly, perhaps naively, kaeya hopes that they never come out, that he can live this life, this existence, as long as he wants. forever. he's never wanted this burden.
diluc isn't moving. his warm weight over kaeya feels good in a way that is not entirely sinless, and kaeya shifts his hips just slightly, his lips parting around a soft gasp once he hones in on just what diluc is looking at. ]
'Luc -
[ he says softly, kaeya's throat bobbing as he swallows thickly, his mouth forming the shape of diluc's little nickname so easily, so naturally, though his voice is lower, rougher. the hand in diluc's shirt loosens, smoothing over his chest. foolish, he's feeling so foolish, so stupid - kaeya bites his lower lip, teeth pressing into the soft flesh, before he's thoughtlessly surging forward, pressing their mouths together before he can think better of it. ]

Honestly, he can’t say he would have stopped it even if he’d known what Kaeya was going to do. His heart is instantly beating a thousand miles a minute in his throat and his entire body feels like it’s been hit by white hot lightning, electricity thrumming over his skin and the heat in his cheeks from their sparring suddenly pooling into his belly and lower.
Kaeya’s lips are so soft… Softer even than he imagined. They taste like apple cider and Diluc’s eyes slip shut as he clumsily tries to kiss him back. The smallest, quietest sound of pleasure escapes him, sending a light vibration over their lips and tight, restless tingling begins in his groin. ]

- oh. diluc is kissing him back. that sudden fear fades away, immediately replaced by a rush of heat that grabs him just beneath his navel, and pulls. diluc groans against his lips, and kaeya shudders, drinking up the sound as his lips part, his arms crawling around diluc's shoulders to wrap tightly around his neck, keeping him close. keeping him near.
it's messy, and clumsy. kaeya has never kissed anyone before, so he's riding on instinct alone as they crush their mouths together, learning one another's lips, their bodies aligning in a way that sends a spark right between kaeya's thighs. their legs tangle, and kaeya presses the inside of his thigh against diluc's hip, one hand sinking into his scarlet hair, his heart pounding in his throat.
for all their shared inexperience, nothing has ever felt so good or right before. ]
